How to verify your Recruitment Agent

Deal Directly with Company Representatives

The safest way to secure employment in Malaysia is to deal directly with the company’s representatives rather than through recruitment agents or third parties. This approach reduces the risk of scams and ensures that all information is accurate and transparent. However, it is understandable that direct contact with company representatives is not always possible. In such cases, it is essential to thoroughly verify any recruitment agents or third parties involved to protect yourself from potential fraud and exploitation.

Verify Third Party Agents

When verifying a recruitment agent in Bangladesh, it is essential to use reliable resources and tools.

  • Newspapers
  • Reliable online Job Portals
  • Government agencies

For Bangladeshi Migrants you can also use the following tools:

  • BRAC Migration Learning Center
  • TTC Technical Training Centre in every district by BMET
  • RAISE Program – For safe migration
  • AMI Probasi APPS/ BOESL APPS/ Baira’s Official News Portal
  • Engage with Social organizations based in Bangladesh like OKUP, RAMRU, Collar, MRC

Be careful of Recruitment Scams

✅Make sure you have a contract: Ensure you have a clear, written contract that details job description, salary, working conditions, and other essential terms. A good contract should cover the following:-

  • Company name
  • Job type
  • Sector
  • Salary and Overtime
  • Public Holidays, Annual Leave and Sick Leave
  • Length of Employment
  • Healthcare and insurance policies (SOCSO)
  • Visa Renewal
  • Pre-departure Training
  • Post-Arrival Training
  • Accommodations and meals provided

✅Check Recruitment Fees: Ensure there are no hidden recruitment fees (this means that when you come to Malaysia, your agent will not take money from your salary to pay for recruitment) A zero recruitment fee policy means you shouldn’t pay any fees to get a job, which ensures fair hiring practices.

✅Check your Visa: You cannot come to Malaysia on a tourist or calling visa for work purposes. Always ensure you have the correct work visa to avoid legal issues and ensure your protection. You must have a work permit.

✅Proper Training: You have to go through proper pre-departure and post-arrival training to prepare you for your job and life in Malaysia. Make sure to ask your recruiter about this.
